The Material

White Formed in Fine Silica

Agate is a variety of chalcedony composed of extremely fine intergrowths of silica. Even when the overall color is white, changes in crystal texture, porosity, and microscopic inclusions can create clouding, faint bands, and differences in translucency.

These beads move between soft white and pale gray rather than presenting a perfectly opaque surface. Light passes through the thinner or clearer areas and gives the strand a gentle internal depth.

White agate behaves more like a softened neutral than a bright white accessory. Its translucency keeps the beads from looking flat, while pale gray areas add just enough variation to show the material.
