The Material

Gold Suspended in Volcanic Glass

Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich molten rock cools too quickly to develop a regular crystal structure. In sheen obsidian, aligned internal features reflect light and create a diffuse metallic-looking glow.

The gold effect is not constant across the surface. Some beads show a broad bronze flash, while others hold a narrower or darker reflection that only becomes visible at certain angles. The black glass remains the base of the material.

Most of the time, the bracelet reads as deep black. As the wrist turns, warm bronze and muted gold begin to move across individual beads, appearing and disappearing rather than staying fixed.
